Rap about your situation. Come out as an artist and share the challenges of balancing a 9-5 job in an economy that doesn't support the arts. Write something that expresses your frustration of working a 9-5 when you're an artist.
People appeal to realness these days, especially on TikTok. There is no one way to deal with the frustration of loving music and doing a 9-5. Trust me, I understand your position. It’s a big part of how my journey started and still is. I take longer routes, but I never give up on my journey.
I’m at home working on me when I'm done with work. We give 9-5 to a system but we don’t give 5-9 to ourselves. If you’re serious that you have a love for music, there are a lot of things outside of the 9-5 that you’re going to have to sacrifice. That might be friendships. That might be time at the club on the weekends, going out or having a good time.
Figure out how to tell your story right now. Don’t try to project yourself to be something or somewhere you’re not. You may feel embarrassed about where you are, but you'll be surprised at how many people can relate, especially if you deliver your work with talent, skill, preparation, and professionalism. If you have all those put together it’s a winning combination.
If you don’t have it all together, that’s fine, it takes time. Always put something out. Not everything is going to be a hit. Put out everything. Whether it’s the music or yourself on these platforms, BE FEARLESS when you’re done with the 9-5. Show us who you are because people want to know you.
