3. Run targeted social media ads to reach a broader audience.
This part of the advice is for aspiring artists who can afford to pay for ads because all these social media platforms offer ads. If you check out TikTok right now, they’re at their initial phase of running ads. You can pay as little as R10. R10 can be as little as a thousand views or people watching your content. That's a thousand people you never had before. Maybe you’ll spend forty bucks every month to attract more likes to your page.
At the end of the day, what you need to realise about putting yourself out there is that it will cost you something, either money, time, or energy. All of that is all-encompassing. As an upcoming artist, you’re hungry, you want to be out there. You know that your work is valuable and should be consumed by people. So, you need to have energy for all these boxes. You must allocate your energy, time, and money wisely to ensure you get your desired returns.
Set up some fair goals. Maybe at first you put yourself out there, throw a dot in the dark and after you’ve thrown ten dots, turn on the lights and see where they landed then you can start figuring out “Okay, cool this is the best I can do with just me putting myself out there. That means the next release I’m going to approach it this way to get either the same results or just a little bit better”. Now you’re setting goals for yourself to achieve.
Those are the basics of what you need to be aware of in increasing the likes on your social media platforms. What’s very important is putting out consistent content. Don’t judge yourself. Don’t judge how many views, plays, or likes you get. Something will hit, and you’ll be able to reverse-engineer what’s a hit and know how to continue doing that every time you release something.
